CONDITIONS OF ISSUE OF PERMITS
SALMON

SEASON - 25th February to 15th November.
Spinning - at any height of water from the start of the season to 30th April and - at any height of water from 15th September to the end of the season.
Spinning is allowed between 1st May and 15th September but not in low water.

Worm - From 1st May to the end of the season at any height of water,
BUT - After 15th September MINIMUM worm hook size is 4 (to protect trout stocks.)
Fly - At any time.

KELTS OF COURSE MUST BE RETURNED UNHARMED, BUT IN ADDITION, TOWARDS THE END OF THE SEASON ALL DISCOLOURED SALMON, OR SALMON OBVIOUSLY CLOSE TO SPAWNING MUST BE RETURNED BY LAW
BROWN TROUT, SEA TROUT

SEASON - 1st April to 15th September. Day permits valid until 6am next day (Midnight on Saturday)
METHODS -
Spinning - from 1st May but not in low water.
Worm - from 1st May at any height of water.
Fly - at any time.

NIGHT FISHING

(during lighting up time) is allowed between 1st April and 15th September. i.e.. the whole of the trout/sea trout season.

AT ALL OTHER TIMES ANGLERS MUST BE OFF THE WATER BY HALF AN HOUR AFTER SUNSET

SUNDAY FISHING

IS ILLEGAL IN SCOTLAND for Salmon and Sea Trout. Anglers must therefore cease fishing by midnight on Saturday and may not restart before Monday morning.

ANGLERS MUST

OBTAIN a permit before starting to fish.
APPROACH the river by recognised routes and not take shortcuts through crops.
PARK their cars clear of gates, bridges and farm vehicles.
RELEASE unharmed all trout under 10 inches, all kelts, parr and foulhooked fish.
MOVE ON a step with each cast if another angler is fishing down behind them.
PRODUCE permits, fish and tackle on demand to any authorised person such as bailiffs, gamekeepers, Police, or Season Permit Holders.
DISPLAY identification tear off on their vehicle windscreen for each permit holder in the car.

ANGLERS MUST NOT

STRAY onto neighbouring beats without a permit. Missing noticeboards will not be accepted as an excuse. Maps are freely available and are printed on day/week permits

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

may result in an angler being banned or prosecuted.
A REWARD may be payable for the arrest and conviction of poachers.
RETURNS of fish caught must be made to the Secretary by 30th November. Anglers who persistently fail to make a return may lose the privilege of a permit.

PERMIT COSTS

Day permit until 15th September....................................................£12.00 (Not Sunday)
Under 16 per day until 15th September............................................£6.00 (Not Sunday)
Weekly permits until 15th September..............................................£60.00 (Not Sunday)
Under 16 weekly permits until 15th September.................................£30.00 (Not Sunday)
All day permits throughout the season are available online from Fishannan.co.uk
But weekly permits can only be obtained from local outlets, or in advance, from the secretary. Cheques payable to UAAA

Note; Day Permits and weekly permits may be obtained locally from:-Gents Hairdresser, Well Street, Moffat; Esso Petrol Station, Moffat; Annandale Arms Hotel, Moffat;
Red House Hotel, Wamphray; Also from:- Sports Shop, Lockerbie, (opposite Clydesdale Bank)

After 15th September everything changes.
A weekly salmon only permit (Also excludes Saturday ).......£90.00
Day permits after 15th September ............................... £30. Day permits at that time are restricted in number and only available online from Fishannan.co.uk and from Red house Hotel, Wamphray

VERY FEW DAILY SALMON PERMITS AFTER 15th SEPTEMBER AND NO SATURDAY FISHING PERMITTED BY WEEKLY PERMIT HOLDERS AFTER 15th SEPTEMBER
Juveniles (under 16) fishing after 15th September must pay adult charges. Local residents must take a season permit.
