CONDITIONS OF ISSUE OF PERMITS
Please note NEW rules

Salmon may not be taken at all during 2016 - strictly catch and release by LAW
Sea Trout are restricted to 2 per 24 hours but none over 3 pounds may be taken

Brown Trout are entirely catch and release on both beats and fishing for both Brown and Sea Trout ends on 15th September

Please note Upper beat is fly only between Woodfoot Bridge and Three Water Meetings, and Applegarth Beat is Fly only between Millhousebridge and Fishbeck Burn each season until 15th September, except in a flood


SALMON

SEASON - 25th February to 15th November. Spinning - at any height of water from the start of the season to 30th April and - at any height of water from 15th September to the end of the season.
Spinning is allowed between 1st May and 15th September but not in low water.

Worm - From 1st May to 15th November ONLY at any height of water,
BUT - After 15th September MINIMUM worm hook size is 4 (to protect trout stocks.)
Fly - At any time.

BROWN TROUT, SEA TROUT

SEASON - 1st April to 15th September. Day permits valid until 6am next day (Midnight on Saturday)
METHODS -
Spinning - from 1st May but not in low water.
Worm - from 1st May at any height of water.
Fly - at any time.


NIGHT FISHING

(during lighting up time) is allowed between 1st April and 15th September. i.e.. the whole of the trout/sea trout season.

AT ALL OTHER TIMES ANGLERS MUST BE OFF THE WATER BY HALF AN HOUR AFTER SUNSET


SUNDAY FISHING

IS NOT ALLOWED for Salmon and Sea Trout and our permits do not cover Sundays for any species. Anglers must therefore cease fishing by midnight on Saturday and may not restart before Monday morning.


ANGLERS MUST

OBTAIN a permit before starting to fish.
APPROACH the river by recognised routes and not take shortcuts through crops.
PARK their cars clear of gates, bridges and farm vehicles.
RELEASE unharmed all trout, all kelts, parr and foulhooked fish.
MOVE ON a step with each cast if another angler is fishing down behind them.
PRODUCE permits, fish and tackle on demand to any authorised person such as bailiffs, gamekeepers, Police, or Season Permit Holders.
DISPLAY identification tear off on their vehicle windscreen for each permit holder in the car.


ANGLERS MUST NOT

STRAY onto neighbouring beats without a permit. Missing noticeboards will not be accepted as an excuse. Maps are freely available and are printed on day/week permits

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

may result in an angler being banned or prosecuted.
A REWARD may be payable for the arrest and conviction of poachers.
RETURNS of fish caught must be made to the Secretary by 30th November. Anglers who persistently fail to make a return may lose the privilege of a permit.

But day or weekly permits can also be obtained from local outlets or in advance from the secretary in which case please make cheques payable to UAAA and NOT to me

Grayling season permits 1st December to 31st March Valid on BOTH beats are £40

Permits from:- Esso Petrol Station, Moffat, open 7am to 10pm - on your right as you drive in from Motorway junction 15;
Helen Smith, Gents Hairdresser, Well Street, Moffat;
Annandale Arms Hotel, High Street, Moffat (01683 220013)
Red House Guest House (formerly Hotel), Newton Wamphray, couple of miles north of Johnstonebridge (Junction 16) turn east over the Motorway from the B.7076 all purpose road which runs parallel to the motorway and it's the first building you come to (01576 470470)
Also from:- Sports and Trophy Shop, High Street, Lockerbie, (diagonally across from Kings Arms);
Pettigrews Pet Shop, High Street, Lochmaben (on the right near the bus stop opposite King Robert the Bruce when driving in from Lockerbie)

Local residents must take a season permit.
