The stretch of water at Hoddom is some of the most beautiful to be found on the entire system. There are 2.5 miles of double bank fishing for up to 15 rods, mostly fished from one bank. There are 9 named pools, which are wadeable in chest waders, except when the river is in spate. Good Sea trout numbers have been caught in recent years. There is usually a good run of grilse if the water levels remain steady, thus then leading into the back-end when the main run of salmon arrive. Medium to high water is best for big fish, for which the river is well known. The beat has mainly grassy banks, which are not steep. There are three huts. Grayling fishing is available during the salmon close season.
