Local Accommodation, this is very much a tourist area and there are hotels and B & B places everywhere. Depending on where you decide to fish you could stay in Moffat itself - I can recommend:-

Very small hotel in the country, with a bar and a self catering cottage across the car park, Telephone No. 01576 470470. They have books of permits for both our beats.

The Red House access is from the all purpose road B.7076 north of Johnstonebridge.

Just south of Johnstonebridge also beside the B.7076 is Dinwoodie Lodge Hotel, Johnstonebridge, DG11 2SL Tel: 01576 470289 - nice meals but I literally have no idea about the accommodation, probably fine.

Further downstream, at Lockerbie is the Ravenshill Hotel Peacefully situated on the Dumfries road, leading out of Lockerbie to the West. Very much a family run Hotel and where the Improvement Association hold their meetings.

A mile or so East of Lockerbie on the Langholm road, is the Murrayfield B & B Peaceful is the word! In its own grounds and can also accomodate horses!!

2 1/2 miles south west of Lockerbie on the Dalton road, is the Riverside Mill Two spacious letting rooms, One double and one twin, both with en-suite facilities. Peaceful, homely, off road parking, great views of the River Annan

Travelling West from Lockerbie towards Lochmaben, cross the Annan and take first left towards Heck, Hightae, Greenhill and Smallholm, collectively known as the Royal Four Towns There you will find, The Hightae Inn (Formerly the Royal Four Towns Inn) Under new management since January, 2008, Morag and Mark Cuthbertson have undertaken an extensive renovation programme to bring the Inn up to the high standard you will find today.

3 or 4 miles west of Lockerbie, at Lochmaben is the Balcastle Holiday Home Tastefully converted from the former Balcastle Hotel, the entire upper floor is now a luxurious holiday home which sleeps six. Scottish Tourist Board 4 Star rating !!!

A mile or so west of Lochmaben, is the LAIRD HOUSE self catering holiday house Laird House sits in an elevated position with stunning views over Annandale, from the Moffat Hills to the Solway Coast and beyond.  Situated on a working cattle and sheep farm and completed in 2009, the house is spacious and luxurious and fully accessible for disabled visitors with all rooms on the ground floor, including a family bedroom, with bunk beds if required, and a games area. TAKING BOOKINGS NOW FOR LETS AFTER 1ST APRIL.

Still Further Downstream Anthony Steel, Kirkwood, Dalton, Lockerbie, has holiday cottages to let. Check them out at Kirkwood Cottages.  Anthony has his own fishing on the Annan and can arrange fishing on other beats as well. 

Ecclefechan is a convenient access point from the M.74 (exit 19) for the lower beats. It has the Cressfield Hotel. Nicely situated just to the south of the village, with easy access to Hoddom Cleughhead, and other beats.

A couple of miles southwards from Ecclefechan on the B.7076 all purpose road beside the Motorway brings you to Eaglesfield (exit 20). It has the Douglas House Bed and Breakfast, with The Courtyard Restaurant and Bar. Situated in the centre of this peaceful village, with easy access to Hoddom, Cleughhead, and all beats south of Lockerbie.

A mile or so below Kirkwood is Hoddom Caravan Site
Best Caravan Site in Britain in 2000, AND with their own fishing, golf course etc,  Fishing page is at Hoddom Fishing

Immediately downstream of Hoddom is the famous Cleughhead Sea Trout fishery.The owner Gordon Clark also owns The Central Hotel in Annan, so of course a fishing/accommodation package is easily arranged.

And on the Solway Coast Kencarrig Shoot and Guest House at 11 Queensberry Terrace, Cummertrees, accommodation and wild fowling with the opportunity to shoot a mixed bag of pheasant, duck, partridge, woodcock, snipe, pigeon, rabbits and geese with rough shooting holidays on the outskirts of Dumfries in south west Scotland.

Also on the Solway Coast Solway Sporting Breaks at 2 Queensberry Terrace, Cummertrees, have B & B, evening meals, packed lunches, guide, ghilly, wildfowling, birdwatching, near the Solway coast and close to the Annan estuary. Mine host is a VERY keen angler.

Self Catering Radcliffe holiday cottage - Radcliffe holiday cottage offers spacious and comfortable accommodation in a quiet rural village setting close to the Solway Firth and makes a great base for touring Dumfries and Galloway.
